The Pirate Princess & Her Parrot

It had been decided back in July that Adalyn was going to be "Elsa" for Halloween.  Her Auntie Em got her the sweetest little dress, and it just made perfect sense.  But then, Once Upon A Costco Trip, Adalyn spotted a bunch of Halloween costumes.  She asked if she could pick out a costume for Halloween.  I have a HUGE spending problem at Costco and get this completely insane amount of joy out of purchases made there....so, I obliged.  She picked out this girly Pirate costume and exclaimed, "Hey! I'm going to be a Pirate Princess!"  Done.  And then obviously I had to think of something that would coordinate for Eloise.  A loop around store in deep thought, I went back to the rack to see if they had a...duh...parrot costume. Because what is a little sister good for if not to be the animal accessory to your costume (see last year)? Costco did not have a parrot costume, but since the idea was already stuck in my mind, I found one on the internet and it was here in plenty of time.

We didn't partake in too many Halloween activities, but both their daycare and Adalyn's preschool had dress up days, and we hosted a fun Halloween playdate at our house.  The costumes got plenty of wear.

She is so freaking cute in that costume!!  I can't stand it.

This one right here?  I swear, all I did was tell Adalyn to hug E, and this is what I got. In retrospect, I wish I had removed the plastic sword from her costume, but this might be one of my favorite pictures of the two of them.  :)

The night before Halloween, I realized that we never got around to carving our pumpkins.  My parents came over helped.  Can I just say how cool it was to be carving pumpkins with my dad again, on the very same table that we carved pumpkins growing up?!

This is also a good shot of what is left to be done in the sunroom.  The quote to paint the wainscoting and the ceiling above (which is also wainscoting) was $850, so it's going to look like this for a while.

My parents also joined us for "Trunk or Treat" this year, and Andrew was even able to skip out of work early to come along.  We hit up every car, and then went back to our neighborhood to go visit some new neighbors.  Overall, it was a perfect little celebration of happy children filled with too much sugar.

And yes, I decided to dress up too.  :)  Andrew and I got invited to a Halloween party that weekend, and costumes were required...here ya go!  I'd show you a picture of Andrew dressed up as an Army dude in full camo and face paint, but it was on my phone that I machine washed, so....
