Spring into Summer!

It bothers me more than you know that I'm over a month behind on blogging, but thankfully, I'm not behind on picture-taking! The end of April and May was very busy for me work-wise, and I just haven't wanted to sit at my computer any more than I was.

This Spring has been pretty magical.  I'm sure it had something to do with the long and cold Winter we had, but it was just so beautiful and filled with so many precious, beautiful family memories.

Ok, there was one little negative event.  Poor Adalyn had to get 15 stitches above her eyebrow after, no joke, a little too rough of a game of hide and seek with Andrew.  She was so brave, and thankfully, a very talented plastic surgeon was able to fix her right up and the scar is now barely noticeable.

With how active our girls are, I'm sure there will be many more stitches to come.

Adalyn isn't all sport though....my little ballerina will have her first ballet recital on June 14th!  We were able to get sneak peek at her costume day:

One of the first weekends of the Spring, we made a trip to the Bronx zoo.

The girls were completely worn out on the way home.

Upon our return, we discovered that we have a cherry tree in our front yard!  We've finished almost all of the work we wanted to get done on our house, and I love it even more than when we bought it in September.

It was so fun finally getting to eat dinner outside!

We've also been to our town beach several times already this year.  The girls are obsessed, and today when it was raining, all Adalyn wanted to do was "play beach".

I couldn't let these gorgeous Spring blooms pass without getting pictures of the girls in them.  Eloise was completely insane that evening, and I didn't exactly get what I was hoping for, but this evening did make for some pretty artwork in our upstairs hallway.  (I swear, one of these days, I'm going to take pictures of all we have done to the interior of our home)  Some of these are edited, and some not:

Mother's Day was SO wonderful!  We went to church in the morning, and then headed off to the beach!  There's really no place I'd rather be.  Andrew made breakfast and gave me my gift - a fire pit!  I wouldn't stop bugging him about buying one and I'm glad he got the hint.  ;)

And then we went home and played in our backyard, ate dinner, and used my Mother's Day present - made s'mores!!

Memorial Day weekend was awesome not only because of the continuation of gorgeous weather, but because Andrew was home Friday-Monday!

We started off at the beach again.

Adalyn finally learned to pump a swing all by herself - I really can't take how fast our first baby is growing up.

That evening, we went out to our new favorite restaurant and stuffed our faces with fried seafood.

On Monday, we went to our town parade with friends from church and then had all of church family friends over for a BBQ.

Oh right? The pregnancy....lol  I guess this really is how it goes with the 3rd!  I haven't taken a bump picture in weeks!  But I have put a lot of time into the designing of the nursery and I think that it will be ready by the start of July which makes me really excited.  It took me a while to figure out how to do a gender neutral nursery that I know I'll love.

I'm also really thankful that this pregnancy has been completely uneventful and also almost symptom free this far.  No complaints...yet.

The latest bump picture I took...I think I was 26 weeks or so (I'll be 30w on Saturday and will maaaaaybe remember to take good picture!)  This is the dress I'll be wearing for my maternity shoot, so at least I'll be doing that.  ;)

We recently joined our local YMCA for the outdoor pool, splash pad, and sand park and pond...gym...free childcare (amazing!) and I know we are going to have so much fun there this Summer.  This past weekend, we tested it out.

I am so proud of this project!  It's definitely not perfect, but we learned a lot and I'm very pleased with the end result.  Maybe one day I'll do a blog post on the process, but in short, I painted the chairs with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue and then distressed and waxed them.  Then, Andrew sanded the table top and we stained it with Gel Stain in Java and sealed with with Minwax Polycrylic.  The sealing of the table top was by far the most difficult part.

And in other important news, our new Au Pair from Germany flew into NYC for training yesterday morning, and the girls and I are picking her up Thursday afternoon!  I'm so excited to finally meet her, with only a few anxieties about how the days and weeks will go with this drastic change.  But overall, I am so happy that we chose her and she chose us...it seems like it will be the perfect fit.  Her name is Kimi and I'll be posting a lot about this new family member, I'm sure!

More to come!
