Hmmmm I've thought long and hard about just forgetting about this blog and having it be over, but I know how much the kids are going to appreciate this one day, and I don't want Charlie to ever feel left out. From this point on, I'm going to make the commitment to keep going, even if it means putting the kids in front of the TV on a beautiful sunny day like I am right now. ha! So much has happened since the summer, and here is my attempt to document it:
The summer didn't feel short or seem to fly by. It felt just right. We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Michigan and celebrated Adalyn's 6th birthday and Henry's 2nd birthday. We spent many summer afternoons just hanging and grilling out in our backyard, and our theme this season was to keep it simple. We did keep it simple, and it was perfect. It felt so good to slow down before the craziness of the Fall schedule kicked in. For the first time this fall, I won't be working AT ALL, and I'm excited to just get to enjoy all that the season brings here in New England. I already have our kitchen stocked with pumpkin spice everything.
The drive to Michigan was thankfully uneventful and we made it without staying overnight. The key was for us to add in the middle seat and for me to pump and bottle feed Charlie so we didn't have to stop to nurse him. We didn't have one single day of rain and the kids spent all day, everyday in the lake!
Charlie met his namesake
And the kids were introduced to a lot of water sports! Adalyn learned to water ski and I even was able to get up and ride around the lake.
The family time spent there was priceless!
We even had the opportunity to celebrate Andrew's grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary.
And it wouldn't be summer in Michigan without celebrating our summer birthday babies.
Charlie also celebrated his 3 month milestone while we were there and I was eager to get his "official" 3 month photos when we got back!
I can't believe our big girl is 6!!
Adalyn started 1st grade this year and loves all things Star Wars, love running around and playing with her friends, ballet, and soccer. She is also just the BEST big sister and helper to her mama.
And our big boy is 2! He likes driving his trucks all over the house and pushing things off counters and tables, climbing everything, and is a pretty typical 2 yr old boy with the cutest little smile.
Charlie boy is about to turn 6 months which is just completely insane.
We've enjoyed apple picking, a Yale football game where Daddy could show off his boys and his old field, and our annual trip to Ambler Farm!
Oh how grateful I am for this life and for these babies.
