A Day in the Life

This last week was a rough one on our family.  Andrew was gone 6:30am to 9pm every day, and even had to go into the city all day yesterday.  Time together, precious family time, is just that - precious - and today was just what we all needed.  Although I've been feeling better, I was super sick last night after dinner and tossed and turned all night.  My incredible husband, just as tired as I am, woke up with A, made us banana pancakes (my favorite breakfast item), and then dedicated the whole day to us.  After church, we headed out to Silverman's farm and picked apples, played with pumpkins, road on a tractor, and even pet some goats.  It was a great day and we are about to head out to an early dinner with some friends.

I've had a few people ask me about how to take good family photos of your family.  I'm not sure how to answer that, because it really matters what you mean by "good".  For me, the best photos capture movement and emotion.  I can remember just how we felt in any snapshot.  The best ones, well, they make me smile in an instant.  All that being said, I'm a firm believer in practicing your composition to really tell the story in a single photo.  Are all of your photos centered?  Try using the rule of thirds and be sure to take in the whole scene.  If you have a DSLR, start working in manual and make sure that your shutter speed is at 1/125 at a minimum.  And a pet peeve of mine?  Limb chopping!  Nothing makes me more frustrated than getting an awesome shot in camera, only to find out I cut off half of a foot.  That's just been a lot of practice for me, and believe, me I still do it!

Here are way too many photos from today.  Adalyn is growing up too fast.  She mastered the word "apple" before we left.  I think we are up to 15 words now.  Just click on one of the photos to scroll though.  Also, Blogger is annoying me today and not keeping my photos in order.  Oh well.

14 months old today!
