At church last week, a good friend asked us how our week was going. One of his kids was home sick with a 104 fever and he said it was just one of those awful weeks. I remember holding Eloise, Andrew dragging Adalyn down the hallway as we passed by our friend, and I hurriedly answered, "We're pretty good, actually! It's been a decent week." Andrew and I met eyes and I knew just what he was thinking. It's been a rough start to the year. It's mostly all the sickness that has seemed to plague our home - one snotty, coughing virus after another and then, oh yea, that hospital trip.
{{Quick update on the E kidney front: Her VCUG last Thursday was negative, meaning that there is no reflux back up into her left kidney. This is GOOD news. No surgery. It doesn't however explain the enlargement of her kidney, so we are meeting with the pediatric urologist next Thursday morning to get some more answers. Pediatrician is pretty unconcerned and thinking she could just have a bigger kidney and that's apparently not a big deal. YAY!}}
Check that. We were going to meet with the pedi urologist this coming Thursday, buuuut I had to reschedule a newborn session for next week because all of us GOT THE MOST EVIL and VIOLENT STOMACH BUG THIS WEEK. Seriously people, I've never been so sick in my whole life. Fever, vomiting, chills, things I won't type to be on the internet forever…it was awful. It hit me first Monday night after dinner and from about 7:30pm-3:30am and I was up about every hour heaving over toilet. Tuesday was a complete blur as my loving mother cared for my children downstairs and then let me know that sweet little Eloise had been hit. Fast forward to early Thursday am when Andrew jetted out of bed, and Adalyn quickly followed suit. It's been quite the opposite of "decent" this week. I'll just end it at that. I'm glad it's over. I'm tired. I'm Lysol-ed out. I pray that we never experience that much vomit in our home again.
So this is what I have to say about this loooooong Winter - bring on SPRING!
Though the snow is fun to play in, it's only fun for about 15 minutes. All kidding aside, we did have a good time in the last snowstorm.
We also celebrated Andrew's 30th with a SURPRISE birthday party. His whole family flew up from Texas and it was pretty special.
But yea, the days of fever and sickness have just put a damper on the good times.
The only thing that has kept me sane during the many days of quarantine has been my camera…well and the Holy Spirit who seems to have amped up His work for patience in me.
It's been hard to be a good mom these last few weeks. It's been hard to be a good wife. It's been hard to be a good business owner. It's been hard to be good friend. But then again, what is "good" right? I'm doing my best and striving and praying to do better at it all.
And I'm also dreaming of our little vacation to Florida that's coming up in 7 days. But who's counting?
