For now, photos from KAUAI! The girls and I had so much fun and I definitely couldn't have made the flights without my awesome sister-in-law Emily. I really missed having Andrew there, but we were able to chat a lot and I know he enjoyed having a week to himself. Most people who ask me how the trip was ask about the flights.
As predicted Miss Eloise was the wildcard. She had a hard time sitting still and there were many moments up and down the aisle from JFK to LAX.
This first flight did have TV which was a huge help!
We had about a 2hr layover in LA. Our flight from LA to Kauai was awesome because it was pretty empty. We had 6 seats to ourselves. Adalyn got pretty comfortable and E double-fisted grilled cheese.
Because it was about 8pm EST time at this point, both girls pretty much slept the entire flight. Awesome! And I was shocked that they actually went to bed once we got to the timeshare, but they did. We woke up bright and early Sunday morning and headed straight to the beach and pool! I'm sure my parents wished that they had a bit more time to relax before we brought the craziness, but I know that everyone had fun.
The sunsets on the balcony each night were to die for.
As were the views of Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast
When we got down from the Canyon, we headed out to our favorite fish taco place. I'm craving them just looking at these pictures!
Next was some shave ice. These were taken just seconds before Adalyn threw a fit over something and dumped the whole thing on the ground.
Adalyn pretty much stayed in the pool 24/7. There are some fun underwater pictures at the end of this post. The swim lessons this summer were definitely money well spent. She swims underwater and LOVES it!
Eloise only enjoyed the kiddie pool. She does NOT like chilly water.
The next night, Mom and Dad treated to front row seats to the luau! We made several attempts to get Auntie Em a picture with girls. This was the best I got:
Adalyn was freaking amazing and went right up on the stage and hula'd like it was no big deal.
The food is always my favorite part.
The next day, my parents were kind enough to watch the girls while Emily and I headed off on an 8 mile hike up the Napali coast. Obviously it was both amazing and tiring.
Getting to the private beach 2 miles in was the easy part. It was next 2 miles to the waterfall that was completely insane.
Back in 2010 when Andrew and I did the same hike, we carved our name in bamboo. Out of the hundreds and hundreds carvings, I vaguely remembered where we had done it and boom - there it was!
About 90 minutes later we reached the waterfall and Emily and I took a dip.
I made some more attempts at dinner every evening to get a picture of the girls - always dressing them in coordinating outfits. This particular night was another fail.
At lease the ocean/sky/sun behaved for me. ;)
Overall, the girls were AMAZING. There was only one evening where I had to remove Adalyn from the dinner table.
Miss E is fine as long as she has food.
I'm not sure there is even one usable frame in this set up either!
But I'll print this for Mom and Dad.
And this will be going in our new living room.
Here's the rest of the pool/beach fun captured by the underwater camera!
It's crazy fun to look at the photos from Adalyn's first time in Kauai. I can't get over how fast these kiddos grow. And I can't wait to start some new memories in our new home tomorrow!!
