NEW HOUSE!! cell phone dump :)

This might have been the longest break of this blog since Adalyn was born!  Turns out that buying your first home is way more time consuming than having a new baby in your house.  But, we are HERE and doing WELL!  Our Fall schedule has begun, along with my busy season of work. I keep holding off on blogging, thinking that the post about buying our first home should be monumental....but it's just not going to happen.  We are going 90mph right now, but loving it, and laughing a lot.  Andrew was home tonight to tuck the girls into bed.  We almost had them down, but then Adalyn wanted to sing "He's got the whole world in his hands." So we sang.  But then she said that we had to stand while singing and do the hand motions over our head.  So we did.  And Andrew and I just looked at each other and smiled - because our life is crazy, but it's so, so beautiful.  We are incredibly blessed.

So here's the rundown on the last month:

We closed on Friday August 29th.  It was an amazing morning, followed by the rush of moving all of our things out of our rental townhome and then beginning the painting on our house.

Here she is!! The house is a "she".  I don't know why I think this, but she just is.  ;)

It's definitely not a fixer, but a lot of cosmetic things had to be done.  EVERY ROOM is getting a coat of paint, all the door knobs were switched out, and the floors in the guest room were sanded and refinished.  And because I'm a crazy photographer, every lightbulb was also changed to be a standard 5000K light source.  I'm excited to eventually be able to share some before and afters.  We are almost done!

Again, please forgive the cell phone pictures.  My big girl camera kind of just laid on the shelf except for work sessions.  But good news  - Andrew surprised me with the iPhone 6, so the cell snaps will be much better.  :)

He is so, so awesome.

We spent the first 2 weeks at my parent's house because the paint smell, and especially the smell of the floors, was a bit hard to handle.  The girls had constant entertainment, and Eloise continued her "thing" of climbing into EVERYTHING.

Adalyn started preschool!!  We popped over to our house that morning, so I could capture the obligatory first day of school picture on our front step.

She LOVED it.  And we took some selfies.

We discovered the awesome new playground 2 minutes from our house at the local elementary school.  And Ellie climbed.  Surprise.Surpise.

This is a snapshot of our backyard.  We have a whole acre!!!  I still can't believe it's ours.

The girls fought over toys.  Again and again.

We had a picnic in our front yard for about 5 minutes until some bees started attacking us.

Adalyn also started ballet.  They don't let you watch except for one observation day later in the semester and then once in the spring.  This makes me SO sad.

Ok, a sneaky peeky. This was the family room color before.  This picture is actually very kind to this color, because in real life it was darker and more mustard.  About 75% of the house was this color.  It's ALL GONE NOW.  YESSSSSS.

Here is what we did to it, complete with our new couch and chair!

The other 25% of the house was made up of poop brown, pistachio green, navy blue, and bright purple.  Thankfully, the only rooms left to be painted are the upstairs baths.

We also had the kitchen cabinets sanded and repainted.  I have a whole kitchen renovation designed in my head, and if we happen to win, let's say $100K, I think Andrew will let me do it.  ;)

In addition to the fully finished walkout basement, this sunroom was the other selling point for me.  We've taken those hideous curtains down and eliminated the yellow walls, but the wainscoting still needs to be painted white.  One day....You know, in my spare time.

Anywho, there's the quick update!  We haven't really done anything else in the last 2 weeks because we're trying to just enjoy the Fall, but I promise to take some more pictures soon.

Ok, one last one:  MY NEW DINING ROOM SET!  OMG.  If I'm being honest, pulling from our savings to pay for it was probably a tad bit irresponsible, especially given the amount of money that we spent in the last month.  BUT, I'm obsessed with it.  It's Restoration Hardware, people.  All of it.  If you didn't know, I've always looked at that catalogue and thought that one day, when I'm a big girl, I'm going to buy something from there.  I'm pretty sure that buying your first house makes you a big girl, soooo.....
