Trick or Treating is definitely one of my favorite childhood memories. I grew up in the best neighborhood for little kids, and we would go from street to street filling up our pillowcases with candy. My favorite part was when my brother and I would pour it all on the floor for "mom's inspection". She claimed that she wanted to make sure there wasn't any "unsafe" candy, but now that I'm a mom, I know that she really wanted to see what she was going to take from our haul once we were fast asleep.
Let's be honest, when you take your 2 yr old Trick or Treating, or Trunk of Treating in our case, you are doing it for you. Hey, I needed editing fuel and the Reeses, kit kats, mounds, and dum dums did the trick. ;)
I had matching mermaid costumes for the girls, but the tiny rainstorm that came in made me think that Eloise would need a hat. And since I was heading out on my own with girls, I was planning on wearing E, and thought that this crab hat would make a much cuter pairing with Adalyn's mermaid costume.
Man, I wish I had checked this image before I thanked the stranger for taking it. We met a few of my mom's friends there, but for whatever reason, this was the only picture I have of the 3 of us.
Well, my images aren't all that much better. My pet peeve - LIMB CHOPPING! caused me to toss a bunch of images. I just have a hard time looking at those. haha. I think they should invest a camera strap for your forehead. It would be much easier to take pictures while wearing a baby. ;)
Adalyn had mixed feelings about "trunk or treating". Some people really went all out with their decorations and she of course, approached those trunks with pure astonishment.
Less impressive was the "Red Sox" van and by the look on her face, she was disappointed in their candy selection as well.

limb chop. where are her feet?! |
Folks, I'm tired. And after over 15 sessions in 2 weeks, I have a LOT of editing to catch up on. I have about 2 more weeks of crazy and then my work schedule calms down considerably. I'm so blessed to have a business that is doing so well and that allows Andrew and I to have yummy date nights and purchase flights to TX for Christmas.....and I'm pretty sure I'm letting myself get a pedicure tomorrow. ;) ...., BUT I can't wait to spend the winter with my babies. I'm planning lots of baking and Pinterest projects....and well, picture ideas, of course, but I've put a cap on the number of sessions I'm taking a month, and I have vowed to stick to that. This was always supposed to be about balance and it feels way out of whack right now.
Images like this, make me SO happy. Images of my babies, with thoughtful composition, lens choice, lighting, and post processing. It's with my own girls that I grow most as a photographer and fall more in love with this art. These images and the prints that come with them, are all I have to remember this fleeting time.
May she always make this sweet, sweet, expression ::
May she always have this crazed, hyper, spirited way about her ::
:)
