Eloise Joyce, 1 Year

What to say, what to say?  I'm tearing up as I type just that! It's hard to believe that just over a year ago you were this baby that I didn't know, kicking around in my belly. And then you came so fast out of me and were this tiny little 6lb, 5oz. bundle of perfection that I had so much love for.  You've grown into the sweetest little princess with a feisty side that comes from your momma and pairs perfectly with your big sister.

Everyone always comments on how they want to just squeeze you because you are so cute.  It's true - you have these big blue eyes and these cheeks with just enough chub in them.  Watching you walk around with your little chicken legs is definitely the cutest thing I've ever seen.  Cutest thing I've ever heard?  When you say "uh oh.  It's now turned into a game where you purposely throw things (usually your food) on the floor, say "uh oh" and then watch my reaction.  Your laughter and happy squeals are quite infectious. Dinner at hour house often sounds like this:

wow, the decibels you can reach!! Fairly new to your vocabulary is "ada".  You LOVE your big sister and follow her everywhere.  Your looks of confusion during one of Adalyn's tantrums keeps me laughing, and you don't know how much I need and appreciate that some days.  ;)  Also fairly new to your daily routine is that you are officially SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!  7pm-6:30am.  Thank you, Jesus.  While we are still nursing about 4 times a day, I've noticed a major drop in my supply.  I'm about 99% positive that I can not attribute this to pregnancy like I did my drop with Adalyn around this time, and rather, it's because you are just taking less and less!  You are such a good eater now and the only thing you really don't like is peas.  You LOVE cheese, specifically Baby Belle, and you and your sister can eat a pint of berries in 10 minutes.  We haven't really started whole cows milk yet because you just don't get sippy cups, but I have new ones coming in the mail today that we are going to try.  I think we have reached the point where you are ready to wean, and this will be the test.

At your 1 year visit, you hadn't quite pasted the 17lbs mark, and weighed in at 16lbs 14oz. - up to the 10th percentile!  You were 29.5 inches which I was told was 50%.  You were basically running around the little room and babbling at your doctor and quickly engaged him in your favorite game - peek a boo!

Oh Eloise, you are just so much fun and officially are my little toddler now. I love looking back at your sister's 1st birthday post and I hope I can look back at this post in a few years while writing about your little brother or little sister's birthday post too!  Yes, at some point, we do hope to make you a big sister as well.  :)

I had hoped to take some nice 1st birthday pictures of you outside in the spring flowers, but this Spring has been pretty cold and they aren't out yet.  So, we went with your birthday party theme, Pat the Bunny.  I really underestimated how hard it would be to find all things peach and robin's egg blue, and I finally just had to let it be, all different shades of blue and all.  Even your cake for your cake smashing  was the wrong color (it was supposed to be peach!) but I love, love, love these anyway.

The celebration of your birthday was about 10 days long.  The Friday before was your cake smash and then we went over to Grandpa and Mimi's for a Sunday dinner to celebrate with them.  This was quite surreal for me, as we were at a Sunday dinner with Grandpa and Mimi the night before you were born! We even played outside just like we had with your sister.  You love riding in the car with her.

The music is your favorite part.

You were not shy with the cake at all.

On your actually birthday, we went out to breakfast with Daddy since he couldn't be home for dinner.

We then headed to the park with one of your playgroups.  I have so much pushing you on the swing because it always makes you laugh and smile.

Happy First Birthday baby girl. Pictures from your 1st Birthday party are coming up next!  Thanks for being you.  xoxoxo
