I have to say, traveling solo with Adalyn was not half as bad as I imagined it to be. Maybe it's because she has been on a dozen planes since she was born, but she was awesome and had no problem sitting in my lap for 2 hours. She even slept for 30 min. on both flights! Of course, Jet Blue made it easy with the TV in front of her face - that really came in handy when we had to turn off the iPad for takeoff and landing. We ate snacks, read books, and played Peek-a-boo barn on the iPad over and over again. She had her moments, but overall, I'd say we have an easy traveler on our hands. All that being said, I didn't really think about how uncomfortable for ME having a toddler on my lap would be. And going through security with a toddler, diaper bag, stroller, and purse was interesting, to say the least. I was more than annoyed that TSA would just stare at me while I attempted to hold Adalyn and fold up the stroller into the X-ray. I mean, really, help a girl out and at least help me fold and unfold it! I even wore a maternity shirt there and back so that I stood at chance at actually looking pregnant and getting some help - no dice. I was relieved to find a super cool playscape at the JFK Jet Blue terminal. With an international flight, you have to get there 2 hours in advance, so we had a lot of time to kill. Again, thank you JetBlue for being awesome.
We still had a great time, though I missed Andrew the entire time. Our little family in Bermuda last October:
Adalyn got lots of snuggles from my mom. And Rufus, well, he was not so excited to see her.
Oh, the terror. I wish you could see him shake.
Where did this chick even learn to lean like this?
My dad got in late Friday night and Adalyn was all about the snuggles from him too.
Since it wasn't exactly a beach day, we headed to the aquarium which also happened to have a little zoo.
And then we went on a beautiful walk to lunch where the sun made a few appearances.
Adalyn fell asleep on the walk, so we got to have a pretty peaceful lunch until she woke up. Then, she would only eat the fries that came with her grilled cheese. Sigh. Eating times have gotten pretty frustrating for me lately.
And then it was picture-taking time out on the dock. This place is so beautiful even on a cloudy day.
After lunch, we headed off for some playtime on the beach. A's favorite! She was upset at the sand at first, but then kept attempting to just run into the ocean.
We then headed back to my mom's house and eventually made our way to the ferry dock.
Adalyn's newest word from this trip is "boat". Needless to say, she LOVEd the dock.
Sun came out a bit, but it sure was windy! I just love her expression in this one, so I don't mind my hair.
Not sure how much longer I'll be "allowed" to pick her up like this :(
We have been working on walking up stairs and just walking around in public places for that very reason. She's been doing great on stairs and actually climbed her first flight in Bermuda.
And then I wanted to play with some f/1.8 for fun. I rarely shoot that wide open, but I think I'm going to do it more often. I just love these!
Her curls. They slay me.
And finally, we headed out to dinner. You don't go out to dinner in Bermuda without an amazing view. And the clouds even cleared for a beautiful sunset. For once, I didn't feel like getting up to take pictures of it, so we settled for some after sunset colors instead.
Thanks for a great trip, Mom and Dad! I can't wait for Adalyn to be old enough to at least enjoy the pictures.
