God's Plans

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Someday, perhaps when Adalyn is old enough to read and understand this blog, I will have to explain to her how she was a surprise...an incredible surprise, the best surprise imaginable, but still a shock to my system and a game-changer for our lives.  Andrew and I had talked about marriage a lot while dating, but we were not ready to take that next step.  A really awesome career opportunity came up for me in Florida and I made the decision to take the job and move down there.  Andrew and I were on different pages and I figured that if we were really meant to be, and if this was the person God wanted me to be with, that we would end up together eventually.  Three days before my scheduled move, I found out I was pregnant.  I decided to move down there anyway.  I had already left my current job and leased a new apartment.  It was such a wierd mix of emotions.  I was terrified, didn't feel ready to be a mom, yet was blissfully happy about the miracle growing inside me.  I remember my 11 week ultrasound like it was yesterday (and it was actually a year ago yesterday).  I remember thinking how much I thought Adalyn looked like a baby.  I started to really picture myself as a mom that day.  Andrew came down every other week to visit and stay with me for the week.  We talked a lot about next steps, our love for each other, and of course, marriage.  Two and a half weeks after that ultrasound, we were engaged.  I like to think that God had our little family planned all along...even though we made a baby when we shouldn't have ;)  He is just that awesome.

Engagement day. You must understand my obession with dolphins to really appreciate the proposal:

He took me to Sea World

He bought me icecream and played the basketball game behind me  about 10x in order to win a GIANT stuffed dolphin.

He finally won said dolphin.

He took me to the Dolphin Nursery.  awwwwww

And proposed like this on the dolphin so that I could say he proposed on a dolphin.

Random lady was excited and asked to take our picture.

And then we spent 20 minutes stuffing it into my little car. :)
