Schedules

There's no hiding that I'm a planner and like schedules.  I knew from the beginning that I was going to be one of those moms that put their babies on one.  And I did.  Well, it was more of a routine at first, but as the months have gone by, I have been paying more and more attention to the clock.  I like being able to say, "She takes her nap 10, so let's plan to meet up at 11".  Get it?  Well, this was going pretty well until last week.  Adalyn was napping in her crib like a textbook baby.  I would tell her it's nap time, get her Sleep Sack on, put her pacifier in, place her in the crib, she would fuss for about 5 min., fall asleep, and wake up almost exactly 30 min. later.  I could set my watch by her naps.  But she recently started to want to be with me for naps.  She'll be fine in her crib for a few minutes, but then it's like she can smell when I leave the room.  She cries and cries and now flips herself in anger onto her belly and somehow propels herself over again into the corner of the crib.  She then bangs her head, gets her foot caught in the slats and screams until I come "rescue" her.  I know they say that babies don't manilupate, but after three of these stunts today, I think she knows what she needs to do to get me back in the room.  After about 45 min. of this, I just can't take her crying anymore and end up rocking her to sleep.  I know I'm supposed to teach her to self soothe, but it's so  hard.  I've tried all the tricks my friends suggest and nothing is working.  I'm taking a break from trying.  It's setting her nap time off and driving me crazy - and she's not getting enough sleep during the day.  I'll try again with the whole self-soothing thing on Monday.  This weekend, it's baby in arms in the rocker.

Afterall, I'm not going to be able to do this forever. :(
***PSA for all you expecting mamas:  Don't waste your money on those breathable bumpers.  Babies can put their legs right over them and through the slats:

Other than our naptime troubles, this week has been great.  Andrew was off from work for MLK day and it was wonderful to have extra time together as a family.  We actually spent most of the day at the mall getting Andrew a new suit.  Oh, and GASP!, I didn't break out my camera once this week.  I did snap these with my phone though.  Little Miss Adalyn in the Saks 5th dressing room, waiting for Andrew to get measured.

I'm thinking of fun ideas for her [gulp] 6 month photoshoot!

  1. Cannot wait to see her 6 month shots!!! She is so adorable! Hang in there on nap times. We are struggling too. I hope it's just a phase...
